Hi, how can we help?

What to expect with your new ears aka hearing aids

When you first start wearing Jabra hearing aids, you might experience a period of adjustment as your brain gets used to the new sounds, even if you already used hearing aids before.

Going for a walk might be a surprise: Things might sound louder than you remember, like birdsong or a soft rustling of leaves. This is because you likely haven’t heard them in years.  So give it time. The goal is for you to almost forget you’re even wearing them.

What to expect

  • Loud sounds: You might notice that everyday sounds, like footsteps or rustling leaves, are much louder.
  • Tiredness: You might feel a little tired because your brain is working hard to process all the new sounds.
  • Uncomfortable fit: The tips of the hearing aids might be uncomfortable or pop out.
  • Unnatural sound: The hearing aids might sound unnatural.

Tips for getting used to hearing aids

  • Wear the hearing aids for at least a few hours during the first days and then gradually work up to wearing them all day.
  • Practice using the hearing aids.
  •  Make sure you are getting a proper fit. Feel impacts sound quality. The better the fit, the better the sound. Read this article on how to find the comfortable fit.

If anything sounds or feels different, different is OK. What isn’t normal is if you’re experiencing any pain.  If you are in pain, please contact us as soon as possible.
