Advanced wearable technology and water are not a good combination. And lots of things can cause your hearing aids to get wet: Rain, sweat, moisture accumulation from a humid day, you accidentally shower with them on. If any of these happen, you’ll want to dry them as soon as possible.
While our hearing aids are weather resistant, they are not waterproof. The receiver wire is the most vulnerable part.
We recommend:
- Dry them off with a hearing aid dehumidifier, also known as an electronic or manual dry aid kit. How long you should keep them in there depends on how severe the water damage is. About 45 minutes is a typical cycle.
- If you regularly sweat on them, we recommend you purchase some ear gear to add a layer of protection to the devices.
- If you don't have a dry aid kit, we recommend placing the hearing aids in uncooked rice in a zip-top bag.
But either way, the faster you dry them, the better.
