What’s in the update and why should I install it?

3.9.68.1 is the latest firmware for the JES 500s. This firmware update makes it easier and more seamless to stream calls, media, and notifications from your phone. For those who are using a compatible smartphone, it will also make your voice easier to hear for people on the other end of your hands-free phone calls and will give you the added ability to adjust the volume of what you hear while streaming using the volume buttons on the side of your phone.

The firmware update will include a number of improvements for our JES 500 customers including:

  • Update to resolve a reported issue where hearing aids were streaming in the charging case
  • Added volume to hearing aid wearer’s voice during Bluetooth LE audio hands-free calls
  • Added ability to control the streamed volume for LE Audio signals with compatible phones using the volume buttons on the side of the phone
  • Added ability for notifications from compatible phones to be streamed with LE Audio

Troubleshooting help

If you received an error message while trying to install the firmware update, fear not! These troubleshooting steps for commonly seen errors will help you get your hearing aids back up and running.

  • Error 306 – This error usually occurs due to an unstable internet connection during the update. To resolve it, ensure you have a stable connection and try the installation again. It may also help to close any other apps using a lot of bandwidth to improve connectivity

  • Error 310 – This indicates that your hearing aids need to be restarted. To do this, place them in the charging case, wait until the green lights appear, then remove them. Once they restart, retry the firmware update.

  • Error 311 –If you see this error, perform a hard reset by holding down the push buttons on both hearing aids for 25 seconds while they are outside the charging case. You may see various green lights—this is normal. After 25 seconds, release the buttons and try the installation again.
