What to do if your hearing aids get wet or exposed to moisture

Advanced wearable technology and water are not a good combination. And lots of things can cause your hearing aids to get wet: Rain, sweat, moisture accumulation from a humid day, or accidentally hopping in the shower with them. If any of these happen, you’ll want to dry them as soon as possible.

While our hearing aids are water and dust resistant, they are not waterproof. The receiver wire is the most vulnerable part.

We recommend:

  • Using an electric dry aid kit like this one or a desiccant jar like this one to remove moisture from your hearing aids. How long you should keep them in there depends on how severe the water damage is, but 45 minutes is the typical cycle.
  • If you perspire often or wear them while working out, we recommend you purchase some ear gear to add a layer of protection to the devices.
  • If you don't have a dry aid kit, we recommend placing the hearing aids in uncooked rice in a ziplock bag.

The faster you dry them, the better.
