Hi, how can we help?

How to replace your hearing aid microphone filters

Your Enhance Select 700 hearing aids (and any replacement Enhance Select 500 hearing aids received after September 16th, 2025) come with two replaceable microphone filters.

These small, grey circular filters fit right on top of your microphone ports, protecting them from waxy buildup.

Our Audiology Team recommends changing your mic filters once every two months to ensure your microphone ports are clean and able to pick up sound easily. Replacing your mic filters is easy to do.

Step by step instructions

In your hearing aid box, you can find the case with the microphone filters. Open your microphone filter case and take out one of the new filter tools.

Hold your hearing aid in your non-dominant hand with the push button facing up. Find the two small microphone port openings. One is right above the push button, and the other is near the top, closer to the wire. These ports already have filters in them, and this is what you’ll be replacing one at a time.

How to remove the old filter

With the filter tool in your dominant hand, insert the removal tip straight into the first microphone port opening. Make sure you’re inserting straight in - not at an angle.

Pull the tool straight out, and the used filter will come out with the tool. Viola!

How to insert the new filter

Now, take the other end of the filter tool (the side with the new filter) and insert it into the same microphone opening.

Gently press the new filter straight into the microphone port.

Then pull out the tool. Make sure the new filter is flush with the back of the hearing aid.

Remember that there are two filters on each hearing aid so don’t forget to follow the same steps to replace the 2nd mic filter and then replace both filters on your other hearing aid.

Once the filters are replaced, your microphones will be fresh and clear to pick up the sound around you. Keep in mind that you may need to change your microphone filters more than once every two months if you’re often exposed to dust, dirt, or humidity.

To keep them working well and picking up clear sound in between replacements, our Audiology Team recommends brushing over your mic filters daily with your cleaning brush before putting them in their charging case for the night.
